Olive Trees
The Olive is a very definate feature in the landscape, not only of Southern Europe, but of other parts of the Meditteranean region. It is prominent on the sides of hills and mountains, both wild and cultivated. Olive trees are evergreen and very long-lived, and very old ones, grotesque in shape and perfectly hollow, bear heavy crops of fruit. These old trees are very picturesque. Very great care is taken to preserve them and to support heavy branches.
The Olive trees have been evolved by generations of selection and cultivation; they have spineless branches, or if spines are produced they are not much in evidence;the leaves are usually broader than those of the wild kinds and the fruits are larger and more fleshy. In shape the fruits are rather like damsons, and when ripe they may be dark violet or black.
We stock a very wide selection of Olive trees. They range from 30-40cm high up to 4 metres in all shapes and forms including bonsai, bush, mini standards, half standards and full standards.
